Merry Christmas!

a day late and a dollar short...lol! I plan to add pics to this, but wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season! We had a hectic family filled day..all in all a good day. RayRay did really good opening presents! We thought he would rip at everything but instead he played with each thing as he opened it and if he opened a book, he stopped until someone read the book to him! We literally were holding him back until everyone got there but I think he was just super excited about the mickey wrapping paper! (lol)

For those of you that sent us Holiday cards-Thankyou so much! I didnt get cards out this year so everyone might be getting cards after the new yr (wouldnt be the first time)

It gets so busy right before the holiday and I just didnt seem to get them out before Christmas this yr. (alright, say it-"again") Be safe and I hope the coming year is filled with joy, wonderment and the love of those in your life! Spread the joy whenever you can, the world will be a better place for it!

Holidays,family & more

Apparently your child's gastroenteritis episode is NOT a get out of jail free card for the next round. So we were home again (thankfully a thur/fri so he had the weekend to recover) but this morning, he had been so happy staying home with mommy that he cried and screamed "home mommy" when told we had to go bye bye to daycare. Talk about feeling like a horrible mother. This on top of the work discussion about the # of unplanned absences I have and my desire to start working from home. My father arrives today possibly with his new girlfriend..sure wish he would have given me a final answer on THAT one.  So this has been just an overwhelming week. Now is the time to think about what I'm thankful for:

My son..I know it's used, but he's my air. The sun rises because he is in my life. Nothing can be bad just so long as he's happy & safe.

My Husband..yes he drives me crazy, but underneath it, I know he loves me.

My family..they love me and support me. I feel like I can achieve anything with them behind me.

My friends..they are my extended family (see above -wink wink)

Our continued health

The roof over my head is warm and dry. I have heat and food and no one hits me or yells at me or belittles me. I can take a shower & put on clean clothes.I only cry the most when I think how much I would love to give those basic things to someone else.

Really, very little else matters. Oh it does, during the day to day and week to week toil. But when you REALLY think about it, does anything else really matter?

Did you tell everyone you care about that you love them?

Did you cry or stare in disbelief?

Did you lose someone you knew or cared about?

Were you scared to death that someone you loved was gone forever?

Are you still scared it could happen again?

Every year that I pull in for the high holidays and see the police that are watching over us, I wonder if we would be ready if it happened again. Will my mother & husband get a call that they will saying goodbye to my grandmother and I forever?

Will my son grow up without me?

Please God, watch over us and keep those we love safe no matter where they are or what they believe.

the yummiest dinner ever!

For those that dont know, I have a wok..I love my wok and should cook with it more often. SO I thought I'd share last night's dinner (done in 15 minutes..BONUS) and left overs for lunch today...mmm ..mmm. GOOD! I'll warn you that I measure very infrequently when I wok. I just splash the ingredients together so I'll give you estimates:

1 wok (heat on high)

Sesame oil (in the wok..I pour it in until there's a 1/4 in at the bottom)

thin sliced chicken breasts

1 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup orange juice

1-2 tablespoons Ground ginger

1 package of asian vegetables (I got the orange sesame steam pack) dont remember the brand but any veggies will do and they can be fresh or frozen.

Wash the chicken (I wash all meats that enter my kitchen) and mix all the ingredients except the veggies & sesame oil into a bowl big enough to hold that and the chicken slices.

Plop the Chicken into the bowl and slop them around so they get a good coverage of sauce.

Heat up the wok (dont heat the oil before getting the ingredients together..if youve wok'ed before you know that a wok heats up WAAAAAY fast and you'll just burn your oil.

Place the chicken around the sides touching into the oil and cover. it only takes about 5-7 minutes and then you can turn them over. cook the other side.

When the chicken looks done, pour in the remainder of the sauce and all the veggies. Give everything a good toss once or twice so the sauce gets a chance to stir on everything (It will thicken with the heat) When the veggies are the right consistency (I like mine softer so Boogie can eat them easily) and remember if you're using frozen veggies that they'll need a little extra time, you're all done!

Of course Rice goes with this extremely well and if you are in a rush (as I frequently am) then ive found most brands carry some great rice mixes that are done in 5 minutes !

Totally enjoy!!

I'd share a picture but there isnt anything left to photog ;)

This is the Psychiatrist's dog. Purebred (Bernese mountain dog), therapy dog here at Childhelp. ..Mattie Rose. I had to run out the end of a roll (I hate wasting film) from the wedding I had a few weekends ago. So I offered to take some pics of her and Mattie...I just had to share because this was such a beautiful pic! And this is one of the sweetest dogs.

7 "interesting" things about me:

Ok Carissa! I think I did this somewhere else, but not here....

7 "interesting" things about me:

1. I'm named after Amy (from the book 'Little Women') because mom said she always wanted a little blonde haired, blue eyed girl...go figure... and Michelle from the Beatles song (my parents thought real long & hard with me..didnt they ;)

2. When I was a little girl I wanted to be a cowboy (not a cowgirl...they dont get to ride the horses) so I grew up and much to the anxiety of my family, I bred, foaled, broke & trained race horses ..I worked with horses in some form or fashion (including private lessons to others) for 16 yrs.

3. I worked on the Paddleboat in Fredericksburg for 5yrs..probably one of the coolest things I ever did! I worked on the engines (yes, I know some about diesel engines) and frequently drove the boat during cruises as well as dealing with lines, customers and keeping the food prep and kitchen issues in order. They jokingly called me the 1st mate..hee

4. Ive always owned a dog and cat until recently (this is my 1st time since childhood being without any pets) but also have had 2 snakes and a ferret!

5. I own a motorcycle and have been to bike week. I swear one of these days I'm going to surprise you all at an MNO with it ;)

6.I lived in California for a yr . (sorry for those CA folks..it was the most miserable year of my life)

7. I love to sing and you can sometimes catch me while I'm driving with the radio off singing some old favorites...used to be me at the top of my voice level singing while I cleaned horse stalls at the barn..I sang at my wedding (just the reception..my hubby and our DJ were both karoake DJs together ..thats how I first met him) so he dragged me up to sing. Yes, there is picture proof of me in my dress, mike in hand (lol)

There's more sometimes than immediately meets the eye...

At first glance, this is a cute pic of a very determined little face that is riding a horse for the 1st time. I love this picture...but take a closer look................ scroll

Down here...see that line from the horse to the grass? Yes, that is urine. That is what makes this picture as cute & funny as it truly is. Would this be one of the "black mail" catagory when he starts dating?

Is this the cutest face you've ever seen???

ok...I mean minus your own cutie patootie's faces!

This is with the new digital SLR by the way...

Entry for July 31, 2007

I posted a few new pics at photobucket...I have more..just havent gotten them in
yet :) Meanwhile, Ray is using 2 word sentences "bye bye mommy" "Hi
Daddy" "mommy no" "BIG bus" and is starting to name characters other
than just favorites like bert & ernie, cookie and of course as always,
Melmo (heehee) He LOVES to wrestle and tickle with us on the floor
pillows and has a very cute sense of humor. He likes to dance to his
fridge DJ music and if we're in the car and a song he likes comes on,
he'll start bopping up and down in his car seat. The thing that cracks
us up the most is when we sing the wheels on the bus and he gets to the
babies saying "Waah Waah Waah"..it's HILARIUOUS! I have to get more
videos on the site, however, we're between video cameras so there may
be a lapse in videos for this time frame :(
We just got back from NY. We saw Grandpa Sterling and our Long Island
family (Meris, Allen, Ariel, Erica, Steph, Doug, Nicholas & the newest
addition Lucas) then headed up and spent time with Aunt Beth, Uncle
Steve, Emily & Annie! Ray got to see monarch caterpillars & cocoons
(too bad we didnt get to see the actual monarchs)Ray did very very good
for the drive. It took us just over 8 hours to get there and he didnt
cry or complain at all. (maybe a little in the end before he fell
asleep almost in Grandpa Sterling's driveway!) He really is a great
traveler! We stopped along the way and he got to sit on the biggest rock
he'd ever seen and also on the branch of a big tree (mommy right there
holding of course!)all in all, a good trip. When we got back, we went
to a small beach for the 1st time! When he saw the water, he started to
giggle like crazy! and BOY did he love that! He definitely has my water
gene. He's a natural...he already is trying to dog paddle! He lost his
balance once and went under the water...dont worry, I was right there
to scoop him up, and after he was done coughing, right back in he
wanted! We played in the sand for a little bit after that. which by the
way, he made sure to tell us was 'Hot'! We have plenty of pics and
video of that so I'll get it up tonight :)
P.S. below is the link to where we keep ALL the Boogie photos!

Entry for July 30, 2007

And so it begins....This is Boogie playing a toddler game my Aunt & Uncle sent home with us. Now he will point and ask for his "dap dop" (Lap top)

we realized that he couldnt reach very well.. so we put him in his highchair seat and he sits there just like us playing on his dap dop...

Very cute :)

My little funny man!!

I WISH I had a picture of this!!!

The other night, while playing with crayons, Ray stepped on a few and
slid to his butt. He was ok..and I laughed. He thought this was
HILARIOUS! so he proceeded to "slip" to his butt at least a dozen more
times with a few "slips" to a completely prone position where he "swam"
in the crayons...no shit..really. Of course this had me laughing even
harder...
So, THIS is how people find the road to comedy! Watch your Concert
listings in 2027...He's gonna be BIG!

Entry for July 10, 2007

What the....

Tonight Ray and I were playing in the back yard. He was getting up to throw bird seed and then sitting back in my lap to look for birds with me. I would mimic the bird call so he would know which one I was listening to and he actually would look around trying to find the bird...how cool is that! It was amazing concentration for such a little person! THEN, I heard a plane going overhead and asked if he heard it. He started looking up to try and find it. Damned if that little stinker didnt find this teeny little plane way up in the sky before even I found it! Started telling me "there" ("deh") and running down the yard to get a better look!

I am continuously amazed on a daily basis at what my little man is capable of ....

He'll be creating a cure for cancer next week (roflmao!)

Saturday, July 7, 2007

Check it out!

Kind of cool...we bought Ray a potty..he's sitting in it and watchng TV (we have it in the living room right now) but he's pretty proud if it. The funniest thing is when he pulls the potty part out and puts his foot through it. He yells for us and says "Stuck!" (LOL!)

It's a Dahddoo

He LOVES his Dahdoo..I mean Tattoo.. so weve been carefully washing around it so it stays longer...yes, he'll show it proudly to just about anyone that asks!

just thought id share

Ray took this picture at the Harry Nice bridge on his way home from work one night....pretty cool-huh!?

100' weather coming up this week

I just thought I would share a picture to remind us that while this 100' week goes by, there is coolness to come. When it's cold, we wish for summer....when it's hot, we wish for winter ;)

Personally, I'm still searching for the place that stays at 50 or under humidity and nothing higher than 73'...I here it's somewhere by Margaritaville ;) (chuckle)

sigh-whats that saying about spilt milk?

: For your comic relief, I will share one quick story from this morning..more of a warning to all of you that have old corell out there, lurking in your cabinets...waiting...

Everyone knows that if you drop Corell dishes, they dont break. Unbelievable stuff! You think to yourself, "self, this stuff is great!. I dropped this plate and it didnt break..WOOHOO!" well, dont be so self assured. All those drops build up over the years. Like a bank account of mayhem waiting to happen. Sometimes, it's that last drop that does it...it hits the floor and explodes in little Corell shards across the floor and you think "damn...I guess they can break" but sometimes, the destruction is sneaky, hidden, lurking! Like what happened to my bowl this morning..... I'm innocently sitting on the couch (already late, mind you) trying to woof down a bowl of cereal. I get 1 (yes folks ONE) bite of cereal into my mouth and I hear CRACK! I look down and in my hands where a bowl of cereal once was, is a pile of white Corell shards, cereal and whats left of the milk not streaming down my lap into the couch! I'm in such disbelief, I actually sit there for 3 heart beats my brain trying to make sense of what I'm looking at before mad-dashing for the kitchen sink to try and get at least some of the milk down the drain. Now I'm standing there..I'm soaked, the couch is soaked (and we all know what happens if you dont clean up spilled milk) I'm WAAAAY late for work and it's most definitely Monday. Yes my friends, Corelle DOES break. So, beware that innocent looking plate or bowl...it's time could be almost up. I worry that I have 8 more of those landmines in the cabinet..what will it be next time? Spaghetti? Matzo soup? clam chowder?

Summer oh Summer-Thank god you're here!

YIPPEEE.... finally warm enough days to drag out the kiddie pool (2 summers worth of use..not bad for a freebie) Isnt he a cutie?!

Talk about Manic baby! He screamed in happiness and laughed and talked up a storm while throwing himself on his butt again & again so he could send up huge waves of splashing water to soak mom and everything within a 5ft radius! All in all a very good afternoon. Especially since afterwards he slept HARD! ;)

What is it about kids & water that just makes them sleep so good?

Entry for April 11, 2007

"I'll lend you for a little time
a child of mine," He said.
"For you to love - while she lives
And mourn for when she's dead.

It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care or her for Me?

she'll bring her smiles to gladden you,
And should this stay be brief
You'll have her lovely memories
as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

I've looked this world over
In search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd
Life's lanes, I have selected you.

Now will you give her all your love,
Nor count the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call to
Take her back again?"

I fancied that I heard then say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for her
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that come
And try to understand."

-- Edgar Guest

Hug your children close and love them with all your heart. I pray every day that my friends & family will never be struck with a tragedy like this ever again.

Say what?

ringing....all I can hear out of my left ear is ringing. This cant be good :( so we ALL have dr's appointments. Mine is on the 21st for the dr to tell me (I'm sure) that he will be putting another tube in my left ear. I did great for a ong time after the other one fell out but the pregnancy seemd to be the end of that. I stopped allergy meds and couldnt take anything to dry the fluid up that I could hear accumulating. Anyway, Boogie and I will probably be getting tubes together (Id rather share a milkshake or something...) we fly on the 12th of April to NM to see Grandma Faye. I hope she remembers who we are. She was diagnosed with breast cancer many years ago. The Dr.s are saying it's back. So who will win the race? Dementia? Cancer? Old age? Life can truly be sad sometimes.
